This paper proposes a simple method for measuring solar radiation intensity using pictures taken by a camera. The proposed method creates an estimation model based on the correlation between the theoretical solar radiation intensity and the color properties of pictures as the pre-processing. When measuring solar radiation intensity, a color property of the picture is substituted to the estimation model. The solar radiation intensity in a wide area can be measured from one picture using the proposed method because the proposed method uses only image analysis. The validity of the proposed method is examined using the root mean square error.
