摘要

Segments of human society have competed with one another while seeking growth and which relying on natural biosystems to support human life. Expansion of competing thought systems often results in war and instability. A variety of earlier attempts at stable peace have notendured -- because competing goal sets have been chosen. The paper argues that a single. coherent goal set is unlikely to emerge and that society should seek a new paradigm for peace with sustainability -- social and systemic goal preferences which accommodate variety. The paper further argues criteria for future leadership which will succeed in overcoming Cassandra's Dilemma (the mythical prophetess. Cassandra. received a gift of perfect prophecy which would not be believed). By way of parallel, past warnings of social prophecy which would not be not because those warnings were incorrect, but because they were not believed. New criteria for future leadership incorporate the orientation for success in a set of systems with limited future choice. Supplemental Ways for Improving International Stability 1998 (SWIIS'98)
