Learning at home is a part of life long learning, a kind of decentralised learning, individual learning, external or off-campus learning. Here, it means home-based learning with information and communication technologies (ICT). Firstly, the authors elucidate the significance of exploring learning at home with ICT. Secondly, based on the research by UKOU, HKOU and CRTVU, the authors analyse the social and physical contexts of learning at home, the access to ICT for home-based learners. Lastly, they offer some proposals to course designers and developers.
