摘要

Gaussian, Lorentzian and Breit-Wigner-Fano line profiles can be used to fit Fe L_(2,3)-ELNES from both Fe~(2+) and Fe~(3+) end-members, as well as mixed valence minerals. This method of fitting has produced robust results for minerals containing >2 atom % total Fe, which agree with published data and demonstrates a useful analytical tool with a wide range of applications for the Geosciences. The Fe L_(2,3)-ELNES, of a mixed valence calcic amphibole, collected at 20℃ and -180℃ show the effects of temperature on the inhibition of electron hopping in this mineral.
