The structure of α" orthorhombic martensite and its interface with the β matrix have been studied in 10 wt.% Mo-Ti. Fine α" plates in the β matrix with {334}_β habit planes and orientation relationships near the Burgers OR have been observed. These plates have a high density of defects, particularly characteristic dislocation loops attached to the interface and lying in a {110}_α" plane. The overall agreement between experimentally observed crystallographic features and those predicted by the phenomenological theory of martensitic transformations was good. Transformation disconnections have been found lying in the interface, and their motion along the interface would affect diffusionless transformation mechanism.
