When applying the leak before break (LBB) design philosophy for the high pressure vesselsand pipelines of nuclear power plants,the evaluation of the crack opening displacement (COD)is essential to the determination of the leakage size crack in relation to the detectable leak flowrate.In this paper,the COD is evaluated in the LBB analysis for the hot gas duct vessel ofthe high temperature gas-cooled reactor by using the fast boundary element method (BEM).
