The world is turning more renewable and automated these days. Aero-Drones are used for Surveillance purpose by Military organizations all over the world. The desirable features for such drones will be autopilot and Good Endurance. The available solar energy can be used for Drones for Long Endurance and to fly at High Altitudes. These have auto pilot feature and designed to fly for a period of time continuously. These flights or drones are called as HALE UAVs (High Altitude Long endurance Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). Thus, it is important to consider its propulsion system which is purely electrical. Proper Design considerations and choice of selection is important to maintain energy balance while flying. This paper proposes an iterative model for design, calculations and selection of Electrical System for Solar Powered HALE UAVs.
