Rope and Grapnel Rescue System is installed on board the R/VYokosuka in order to recover manned submersible Shinkai 6500 in caseof emergency. We have carried out recovery operations of thetransponder mooring system for 11 times between 1990 and 2002 usingthe rescue system. Ten mooring systems at water depths between 2000m and 6000 m were recovered successfully. In 2002;;a transpondermooring for the Ocean Acoustic Tomography System was recovered.The mooring system was deployed in 2000 at a depth of 5100 m in theJapan Trench;;and did not ascend by acoustic release.
