[Objective] To realize antibiotic resistance amongst Neisseria gonorrhoeae isolated from patients in different cities of Jiangsu province, in order to instruct correct treatment in gonorrhea infection. [Methods] The in-vitro susceptibility test was performed in 95 strains of N. gonorrhoeae. The Minimum inhibitory concentrations(MICs) of penicillin, tetracycline,ciprofloxacin,levofloxacin,cef-triaxone, cefotaxime, cefepime and spectinomycin were determined by agar dilution test using GC agar base containing 1% defined supplement and serial dilutions of each agent. PPNG were identified by commercial strips for detection of β-lactamase.TRNG were identified by strains' MIC.TEM gene and TetM gene were detected by PCR assay. [Results] There were 57 isolates of N. gonorrhoeae from Nanjing, 53 from Wuxi and 15 from Xuzhou. In all, there were 101(80.8%) from symptomatic men and24(19.2%) from symptomatic women. Therefore, ciprofloxacin resistance was 100%, tetracycline resistance was 78.9%, and penicillin resistance was 68.4%, while spectinomycin resistance was detected as 1.1%. No resistance was detected against the third generation cephalosporines, including ceftriaxone, cefotaxime and cefepime. Of the 95 isolates, 52(54.7%) were PPNG and penicillin MIC_(50) was 64μg/ml,27(28.4%) were TRNG and tetracycline MIC50 was 32μg/ml. PPNG had high level TEM gene(96.3%) and TRNG had high level TetM gene(93.3%). [Conclusion] Antimicrobial resistance of N. gonorrhoeae was more serious in Jiangsu province. Ciprofloxacin may become a useless drug to treat gonorrhea infection in this province.
