Motorized single-person vehicles are popular in developing countries. The short distances typically traveled using single-person vehicles may contribute to the popularity of battery-powered electric propulsion systems. Capacity, weight, cost and charge/discharge cycling capability are the driving factors in the choice of battery chemistries providing energy to electrical drive-trains. This paper characterizes the performance of an electric scooter powered by two types of battery chemistries, both of which have similar capacity.
