Calibration of Vehicular Live Load Site Factors to Design of Urban Bridges

This paper presents the development of an algorithm and the equations needed during the simulation and statistical analysis phases involved by the reliability analysis of urban bridges. These have as main objective the prognostics of Absolute Maximum Moments and Shears (MCMA) vs. time, in terms of Average Daily Truck Traffic (TDPVP) in a single lane and direction. The group of structures considered in this paper includes single span bridges with spans between 10 and 60 m long. The solution of the problem is based in the relationship between the probability of exceed of the biggest value in n observations in N future observations with the instant time where the first maximum of maximum absolutes was presented (return period). The expansion of the information of the gauging to the based return period in the proposed equations makes possible to evaluate site condition of traffic on bridges in all kind of roads inclusive those located in urban cities.
