摘要

This paper presents the revolutionary and unique "Gammon Skanska Construction System", which is the product of an in house research and development programme into modular construction extending for more than three years. The vision of the programme is to take the construction industry forward to levels of efficiency found in the oil, ship and automobile industries. Heavy investment has been made into the Research and Development programme for the System, including the full scale building of a modular three-storey mock up in Dongguan (see Appendix 1), two modular show flats for the Integer Exhibition at the Tamar site in Hong Kong and the preparation of a promotional video. After two years of patent searching, it would appear that this is the first time that a precast modular design may be readily and economically used for high-rise construction, without compromising structural integrity or weatherproofing.
