Gammon, one of Asia's leading construction and engineering services groups, has announced that it has changed is name to Gammon Skanska Limited. The incorporation of Skanska in the name brings to the forefront the shareholding relationship of Skanska and highlights the enhanced capabilities and international resources available within the company. Gammon Skanska is 50 percent owned by Skanska AG AB and 50 percent owned by Jardine Matheson. Skanska AG AB is the third largest construction provider in the world with a annual turnover of 11.15 billion US dollars.Skanska's other existing Asian operations will be incorporated into Gammon Skanska. Martin Hadaway, Group Managing Director of Gammon Skanska, said that access to the global expertise of Skanska will further enhance the company's ability, and new construction technologies will become available to the company, which will allow it to take charge of complex projects and deliver cost effective and environmentally friendly construction and engineering services, two requirements that the high on customers' agendas. "The new name also reflects a new corporate attitude to how business is conducted at Gammon Skanska," said Mt Hadaway. He explained the construction industry is quickly becoming a service industry where people and relationships are the keys to long term success.
