This paper presents a new set of guidelines for the design of timber wave screen breakwaters. Results are based on a refinement of the eigenfunction expansion theory of Isaacson, Premasiri, and Yang (1998), calibrated and verified using a new set of laboratory experiments. Results are presented in the form of design curves for four variables: wave transmission, wave reflection, wave-induced forces, and overturning moments. Methods are also included to account for uncertainties in predictions.
