摘要

One of the policies advanced earlier by the Ministry of Construction in China was to change the economic growth pattern of construction industry. Until now most of the evaluations on the construction growth have been based on qualitative and empiristic analysis. Few holistic and in-depth conclusions on it have been raised. This paper comprehensively presents the development of Chinese construction industry in nearly 50 years, based on the data of 6 variables relating to construction by the application of methods like factor analysis, stepwise regression and cluster analysis. Two factors are identified on which Chinese construction growth depends, i.e., the resource flow factor (RFF) and the resource input factor (RIF). However, RIF has always been highly relying on in the development of construction industry. Meanwhile the growth rate of construction industry fluctuated during the process of institutional change.
