摘要

Pre-fetching is a useful technique to improve computer system performance. However, the degree of pre-fetched pages is complicated to predict, which challenges the effectiveness of pre-fetching. We had proposed an adaptive pre-fetching approach by using "life-time function analysis of programs" on a single process execution model. This paper further develops this adaptive pre-fetching algorithm into multiple process execution models and conducts trace-driven simulations using real workloads to confirm the significant increase in performance that can be achieved with the new approach.
