Xiaotashan hydroproject has been found dangerous sinceits initial operation. The problems include the flood control standard for the reservoir is made at a low level; the main and secondary dams have potential leakage, and their foundations are detected with possible seismic liquefaction. Danger still lurks, though the reservoir has been reinforced many times. Thus, some main danger removal and reinforcement measures, including clay grou-ting on the dam, additional loading station, plus the reconstruction of spillway floodgate and buried culvert inside the dam, are taken on Xiaotashan hydroproject. This case is useful for researching danger removal and reinforcement of most risky reservoirs as reference.
