The flooded deposit provides an important material for studying the scale and law of ancient flood disaster event in middle-lower reaches of Yangtze River. Through systematically sampling, measuring and calculating the dam-break (August 1,1998) deposit in Paizhouwan of Hubei Province, the identification marks of magnetic fabric character of modern dam-break flooded deposit in middle reaches of Yangtze River are established and discussed in this paper. The magnetic fabric characters of dam-break fan deposit are: from the foot to the edge of dam-break fans, the statically average value of magnetic fabric parameters (the anisotropy degree of magnetic susceptibility P, magnetic facet F, magnetic lineation L, the velocity of water flow F_s and magnetic matrix grain degree q) all change from large to small. The statistical directions to the principal axis of magnetic susceptibility magnitude ellipsoid in different position of dam-break fans have different features that the statistical direction changes greatly at the foot and the edge of dam-break fans. Especially, at the edge of dam-break fans the direction of maximum susceptibility principal axis is at random with no obvious main direction. But it is relatively stable in the middle of fans. And optimum direction of maximum axis is very clear.
