We study the spontaneous emission from a V-type three-level atom embedded in a photonic band gap material. The radiation field may contain zero or one or two travelling pulses by selecting the atom-field coupling constants and changing the relative positions of the upper levels from the band edge. The properties of the localized modes are also displayed by means of spectral analysis. And we get two propagating pulses of similar height in the propagating field.
