Computer simulation technology gets more and more applications in the metal forming processes. The high precision stretch bending of extrusions becomes the key technology for space frame of car body. In this paper, a non-linear finite element analysis (FEA) software LS-DYNA is used to simulate the stretch-bending process for the extrusion in a vehicle doorframe. The relationships between the deviation of the cross section and the process parameters are mainly investigated. In order to find the influence of manufacturing parameters to the deviation of the cross section, the following numerical simulations are done. They are press-bending and stretch-bending, three stretch-bending procedure modes, i.e. stretch-bending (P-M mode), bending-stretch (M-P mode) and streteh-bending-stretch (P-M-P mode). In P-M-P mode, the influences of pre-stretch force Fpre and the friction coefficient fs are also considered. The studies show that stretch-bending has much less deviation of the cross section than the press-bending; In the stretch-bending processes, the procedure modes and the pre-stretch force Fpre have small effects on the deviation, but the friction between the workpiece and die does reduce the cross section distortion.
