摘要

Utilities around the world are strongly engaged in the process of privatization and to position the organization in an environment where customers are requesting a high quality level of power delivery. To achieve this high quality level of power delivery, the utility requires an effective and efficient means of obtaining monitoring data and information from the protection and control devices (secondary equipment) as well as from the primary power equipment viz. circuit breakers, transformers, transmission and distribution network. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the possibilities, which are provided with the implementation of Power System Monitoring (PSM). This is a powerful system, which provides a utility-wide data collection, data management, data interpretation, as well as an analysis and expert system. The PSM enables every authorized user in the utility to obtain data and information at any time from any data source from any location.
