In this paper, we propose a tap gain correlation model for broadband MIMO systems. The model is based on the classical Clark's model. The Clark's model is extended to a broadband MIMO channel model by dividing the scatterer ring into a contour of constant delay. The contour of constant delay is created by using elliptical rings between transmitter and receiver. The geometry of the constant delay layers determines the amount of tap gain correlation between delays. A statistical model of the delays is developed by using the geometry of the contour of constant delay. Then, the correlations between delays are determined. This tap gain correlation effect is analyzed for various values of resolvable delays and maximum delays. It is observed that the magnitude of tap gain correlation decreases as the amount of resolvable delay increases, but increases with the increase in the amount of maximum delay. From the proposed model with tap gain correlation effect, outage capacity of the MIMO system is also investigated. The capacity results are analyzed in the presence of both the tap-gain correlation and spatial correlations.
