In last 5 to 10 years, great progress in automation has been made in metallurgical industry of China. A new concept - Comprehensive Automation System - has come into being, which can be simply described as integrating production management systems tightly with process control through various network techniques and information technologies. The major characteristic is the synthesis of various new techniques and integration of all information within entire enterprises. The main information Integration techniques that have successfully been applied in metallurgical automation are introduced in the paper, including EIC operation integration, various networking, MES techniques, etc.
