To investigate the association of HLA-B*5101 and clinical features of Behcet’s disease (BD) of Chinese using HLA-B51 OligoChip. Methods: HLA-B51 antigens were evaluated for serological HLA typing in 27 BD patients and 53 healthy controls. And HLA-B51 allele genotyping (HLA-B*5101-HLA-B*5109) was performed by the OligoChip and PCR-sequence specific primer (SSP) method.Results: HLA-B51 was found in 63%(17/27) of BD patients and in 15.1% (8/53)of controls（P<0.0001，OR=11.7,95%CI 3.9-35.4）.All of HLA-B51 antigen positive patients and controls were HLA-B*5101. The genotype frequency of HLA-B*5101 allele was significantly increased in males (42.3% in females versus 80% in males), with an OR of 5.6 (95%CI 1.1-29.3,P<0.05). Conclusion: Similar to other groups, HLA-B*5101 might be a susceptible gene for BD, and it was strongly correlated with male BD.
