摘要

Kenaf (Hibiscus cannabinus L.) is one of the most economically important fiber crops. It is difficult to identify kenaf accessions based merely on morphological characters due to their limited variation. DNA fingerprinting, RAPD and AFLP markers were used to estimate the genetic variation and relationships of kenaf germplasm. Both RAPD and AFLP analysis are effective in identifying all kenaf accessions included in the study and determining their genetic relationships, particularly when combined with the analysis of morpho-agronomic characters. Relatively low genetic diversity was detected among the cultivated kenaf based on RAPD and AFLP markers. The AFLP analysis also strongly supported that kenaf originates in Africa and demonstrated that the dissemination of kenaf was from Africa through Asia to Central and North America.
