摘要

Three types of kenaf boards have been developed using long and strong bast fibers and/or lightweight porous core particles. The results show that, 1). Oriented kenaf bast fiberboard (KFB) provides high mechanical properties and high dimensional stabilities. This type of boards can be applied to flooring and wall panels for construction uses. 2). Kenaf core particleboard (KPB) with low density provides good sound-absorbing and heat insulation performance. This type of boards can be applied to furniture, wall and door panels for interior use. 3). Kenaf composite board with KPB as core and KFB as surfaces overlaid on both sides of KPB provides high mechanical properties with lightweight, and has a potential used as substitute to plywood.
