摘要

A model for the setting of bitumen emulsions (from single emulsion droplets to a solid bitumen binder) is described consisting of five stages for the performance of the two phase system bitumen/water. The model will be related to the two main kinds of road surfacing and cold mix asphalt having a great relevance to the performance of emulsions in road construction. Every kind of application corresponds with "its own stage" of the model that becomes characteristic for the behaviour of the emulsion and which is especially important for the successful application. Therefore test methods were created to catch the important stages separately which is essential of optimising the formulation and production conditions for emulsions.
