Cullets from green container glass were crushed, milled to glass powder and mixed with opc or bfc. Mortars, according to din en 196 part 1, were made from mixtures with 25 % glass powder and 75 % cement. Mixtures with fly ash, according to en 450, and cement were tested as a reference. The compressive strength was measured up to 90 days. After 28 days the mixtures with bfc and glass powder reach 90 % and mixtures with opc and glass powder 95 % of compressive strength of the pure cements. Dependent on the specific surface, glass powder shows a comparable or even better pozzolanic activity as fly ash.
