Coal tar is also called tar. It is a kind of liquid production that obtains in the process of carbonization and gasification of coal. People always think that coal tar belongs to apyrous liquid and it is difficult to occur fire and explosion. But it is really that violent explosions have happened in the processes of coal tar storing and transportation. According to the constitute and hazardous characteristics of coal tar, this paper analyzed the explosive sources of mixed gases and forming process of coal tar storing tank and tank car. Although the coal tar itself belongs to apyrous liquid, it includes some combustible constitutes, and the steam concentration in the upper space of coal tar is much higher than that of in the liquid, and then forming the explosive mixing gases. Also this paper analyzed the sources of firing. In the end we can draw a conclusion that the explosive extent of mixed liquid should be decided by the constitute of the gas instead of the liquid part only.
