In the direction of the new idea of "keeping the healthy life of the Yellow River" for Yellow River controlling, it is becoming especially important how to recognize, think about and keep the river ecosystem health in a new thinking. The ecosystem health is a new study hotspot which has been developed in recent years in ecology field. There is little practice in river ecosystem in China. In this paper, the connotation, the theoretic framework, the assessment indicator system of river ecosystem health, and other aspects are discussed. This will give a theoretic direction to the practice of the river ecosystem health.
