摘要

The purpose of this paper is to discuss how to verify the performance and effects of a variablernspeed limit system designed for alleviating merging from a minor road to a major road at arnyield sign controlled three-arm junction. The results based on a case study showed that thernhypothesis of the clear positive effect of the control system on merging from the minor roadrnwas not verified. However, the main conclusion was that the control system might have arnpositive, however very small, effect.
