In recent years, especially in Europe, research has been conducted regarding various methods of location reference, which use longitude and latitude as the main information. Generally, these methods are inferior to the currently prevailing pre-coding method in terms of the processing time on the receiving unit, and the amount of transmission data, which effectively delay the implementation of location reference methods. We also have been developing a location reference method using road shapes composed of longitude and latitude. This paper introduces the acceleration of processing time of the location reference method on the receiving unit and the reduction in the transmission data size.
