Romania's tourist vocation is determined by the variety and complexity of the landscape, especially the last mentioned, also by the richness of surface and of water or groundwater, by the transitional continental climate, by its vegetation and fauna and by the varied anthropogenic potential, as a result of the Romanian people millenary history in this geographical area. Also, Romania's geographical position provides functions for travel and transit, its territory being crossed by main roads as links between the western and northern Europe with southern continent, but also with Near and Middle East. Romania is a Carpatho-Danubian-Pontic country, the three great natural forces of Europe (Carpathians, the Danube and the Black Sea) meeting its territory, they being also the basic support of tourism development.
