摘要

The aim of this work is to show the correlation between grease rheological behaviour and its composition (base oil and soap natures, presence of additives) and its structure. A rheological investigation was conducted on ten lubricants under the controlled stress and the controlled rate modes. The results, obtained over different time intervals, show that grease behaves like a non-Newtonian viscoelastic material, with a narrow linear domain. As for the microstructure, soap and base oil nature are the main parameters governing the rheological behaviour. However, we saw that the presence of additives has a direct influence on the grease flow properties, especially when greases are submitted to low shear stresses or shear rates.
