We have examined the effects of zincate pretreatment and heat after-treatment on adhesionrnof electroless Ni-P coating onto aluminum alloy substrate.rnThe precipitation state of zinc differs with the number of zincate treatments, and doublernzincate treatment markedly improves the adhesion between the aluminum alloy substrate andrnthe Ni-P coating. This improvement in adherence can be attributed to a strengthening of thernmetallurgical bond occurring because of diffusion between the aluminum alloy substrate andrnthe Ni-P coating under the plating temperature (363 K for 7.2 ks).
