RAPIDWALL combines the benefits of precast, plasterboard linings and hollow blockwork in a unique wall panel system developed in Australia. RAPIDWALL is a hollow panel manufactured 12 m x 2.85 m x 120 mm thick from GYPCRETE. Gypcrete is a mixture of gypsum plaster, glass rovings and waterpoofing additives to create a panel which is fire rated, load bearing, sound rated, termite resistant, water resitant and easily placed using small crenes or forklifts. 46,000 sq metres of RAPIDWALL has been placed in an eight stoegy Sydeny residential development. The use of prefabricated RAPIDWALL panels together w ith a precast floor system has resulted in fast erection times and early access to following trades. Prototype testing in accrodance with A3600 has been carried out to determine RAPIDWALL's load bearing capacity. The test method and results form part of the paper.
