The second draft of the Concrete Model Code for Asia has been published recently; it is intended for use in Asian countries. This paper serves to introduce the Model code by providing a brief history of its origins. The contents are discussed and evaluated. Comparision are made with the w ell-established Australian Concrete Standard-AS3600 (1994 on philosophical and general grounds.
