An Application Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) for interrogating resistive sensor arrays has been developed as part of an electronic nose. The ASIC, fabricated in a commercial 2/spl mu/ BiCMOS process, employs current-mode techniques to measure absolute and changes in resistance. Two fundamental cells from the ASIC, a current-multiplexer and a current-amplifier, are discussed. Communication with the ASIC is via the I/sup 2/C bus.
