An approach for designing a controller for single-input single-output slowly varying second-order linear systems is described in this paper. The approach utilizes the generalized multiple scales (GMS) method to obtain an equivalent transfer function representation of the varying system, which carries an accurate information about the system dynamic properties. With such representation, the classical control techniques, such as frequency response methodology for the linear time invariant system, can easily be applied to achieve the desired closed-loop system characteristics
