摘要

The main objective of the study described in this paper wasrnto investigate the seismic behaviour of a six-storeyrnreinforced-concrete base-isolated apartment building inrnTakamatsu, Japan. The building was subjected to a lowintensityrnearthquake in August 1999 and its response wasrncaptured by three tri-directional accelerometers. Followingrnthe earthquake, in September, a series of ambient vibrationrntests was conducted in order to determine the modalrncharacteristics of the building. Such characteristics includedrnthe natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes,rnand damping ratios associated with each mode. A finiternelement model of the building was developed and calibratedrnto match the ambient vibration results in the first place andrnthen the low-level ground motion. Details about the ambientrntests are given and the approach for modelling the building isrndiscussed. Results from the low-intensity earthquake,rnambient vibration tests, calibrated finite element models arernalso presented and discussed.
