Asymptotic expansion of reliability integral is applied to some representative problems involving reliability of structural members. The use of asymptotic approximation reduces the problem of evaluating a multidimensional probability integral to solving an unconstrained optimization problem. Approximations are developed in the original variables. Examples are presented illustrating the practical calculation of the approximations.
