Working in conjunction with the Cal PV4U Working Group, the Southern California Edison Company (Edison) developed a unique off-grid pilot program in which Edison offers individuals 15-year photovoltaic (PV) service contracts.This presentation will (1) describe Edison's program, (2) trace the steps which were taken to develop the program in a collaborative process comprised of a diverse set of stakeholders, (3) provide an evaluation of the program's experience since receiving regulatory approval, and (4) describe how an off-grid pilot program can accelerate the commercialization of PV technologies and provide the foundation for the future integration of PV technologies on the utility system.
