Aiming at the stable automatic operation of the fluidized bed granulator, three major factors influencing the mean diameter of granules,namely moisture content,fluidization conditioned input thermal energy were selected for examining the in-line measurement of these factors and their feed-back control. The amplitude level of AE (acoustic emission) from the fluidized particles was applied for indirect estimation of the fluidization condition. Fuzzy control system was established by (he use of the production rules and made by considering the degree of influence of the above factors on granule quality. The change of particle moisture content suitable for granulation in stable fluidization condition, to produce the granules having narrow size distributions was successfully obtained by using the system, for even the difficult granulation conditions by usual control methods.
