Before Christ, big water scoop wheels which named as Noria at Roman Period were used in Orient. At the present, two big Norias still work at Hama along the River Orontes in Syria. In the ancient East, water scoop wheels made of bamboo were operated in south China. Also, big wooden scoop wheels with wooden dippers still works along the River Yellow in north China. Also in Japan, some wooden water scoop wheels work in Kyushu Island and the Mainland. They are surveyed actually and discussed comparatively.
