Solving the transport equations and equations related to the electrochemical phenomena in the constitutive layers of an Hydrogen-Oxygen Proton exchage membrane (PEM) Fuel Cell, requires coupling the domains consisting of the gas channels where reactants are fed with the porous gas diffusers (figure 1). The difficulty of coupling these domains has apparently been a important draw-back in fuel cell simulations. Previously developed models solve equations in PEM fuel cell layers except the gas channels and the species concentrations are provided as input boundary conditions at the intrface between the gas channels and the gas diffusers.
