This study details the application of discrete process simulation to achieve leanness and economy in the manufacture of vans. The study comprised attention to product-sequencing and mateial-handling constraints while seeking to attain production targets, reduce transportation time and cost within the production process, reduce in-process inventory, and achieve high but not constraining utilization of resources. Results of the study indicated improvements to the process design relative to all these objectives.
