The results of applications of recent methods (Kerner, et al., 1996-1998) for the automatic tracingand prediction of traffic flow patterns and time-dependent vehicle trip times are presented. Themethods are based on both the complex features of synchronized flow and moving jams and on thepredictable properties of real traffic patterns which have recently been discovered by Kerner incollaboration with Rehborn (1996-1998). It is important that the methods perform based onavailable data without any validation of the parameters of the related models under different infrastructuresof a highway, weather, etc.. The methods can be applied both for a tracing of traffic flowpatterns and for a reliable traffic forecasting on a highway.
