摘要

This paper describes the intermediate study results currently conducted by Japanesestandardization body for ITS information services. These services require real-timeinformation, forecasts, reliability and life-related safety information. The suitablebearers for these services are terrestrial digital audio broadcasting system and BSS(broadcasting satellite services) system for digital sound using 2.6GHz band. Thosebroadcasting media can be received very easily in mobile reception circumstancesConsidering for encoding these ITS-related information, it is necessary to conform tonational broadcasting standards already established or currently under study. We haveexamined the feasibilities when current VICS (Vehicle Information and CommunicationSystem) service as well as its possible extensions are used to these broadcasting systems.
