摘要

In current architecture projects, attention is paid to strategic processes of traffic control andthe systems to make traffic control possible, but attention for the definition and description ofthe traffic system which is affected by the traffic control is new for those projects. Earliermodels were not adequate to describe all characteristics and processes in the traffic systemthat are affected by traffic control. The new model is called the ‘Domain Model’ andcharacterises the traffic system (the domain) in four quarters; “vehicles”, “road infrastructureand roadside systems”, “trips” and “traffic flow”. It forms a solid reference for theArchitecture for Traffic Control (in Dutch: Architectuur voor VerkeersBeheersing, AVB)project.
