This paper is a report on the development of a high-accuracy traffic flow measuring device that usesimage processing of images from visible-light cameras and infrared cameras for highly accuratemeasurement of traffic flow, and also a report on the measurement results obtained using this Device.In order to perform elaborated system design for Advanced Cruise-Assist Highway Systems (AHS)services, it is essential to have actual data concerning individual vehicle behavior and traffic flow on thehighway. The installation conditions of device were collected into the operating manual. Togetherwith the creation of this manual, measurement of traffic flow and the road environment onhigh-standard highways and ordinary roads was also carried out over a total of 98 days. The resultswere used as the basic data for the AHS simulator. Measurements of every type of traffic flow scenewill also be conducted in the future, and these should contribute to AHS development.
